In the following you will find a list of FAQs concerning the use of our products DOLERMA® and PRIMALAN®Q: Can DOLERMA® be applied to open sores?
A: Yes, but this can cause the respective patch of skin to "burn" briefly. This, however, is only natural and shows that the skin requires antiseptic treatment. DOLERMA® exerts a strong antiseptic and antimycotic effect which will prevent inflammation. The use of DOLERMA® as a pre- and after shave lotion is therefore highly recommended. Q: Can DOLERMA® and PRIMALAN® be used on the face?
A: Yes, both products can be applied to face, scull, and body. DOLERMA® is particularly effective in case of acne (see also the respective Quick-Info: Acne). We recommend to use DOLERMA® as a facial cleanser on a daily basis, but also before and after wet shaving. Acne) bzw. zur täglichen Gesichtsreinigung sowie vor und nach der Nassrasur empfohlen. Q: Which (unwanted) reactions of the skin can DOLERMA® or PRIMALAN® cause when applied to the face?
A: Unexpected short term reactions of the skin to any cosmetic product can always occur. However, DOLERMA® and PRIMALAN® show hardly any negative effects. If anything, a brief irritation of the eyes, due to the evaporation of alcohol contained in the preparation, might be mentioned here. This can easily be prevented by holding the head up high instead of looking down while applying the preparation.
Specific reactions to the application of DOLERMA® (e.g. due to a camphor allergy) should be discussed with a dermatologist. To prevent unpleasant surprises, you should test the preparation by applying it to the inside of your elbow before using it on any other body parts. Q: Can DOLERMA® und PRIMALAN® be used on any type of skin?
A: Yes.

A: Basically yes. In case of DOLERMA®, however, we recommend to be careful when applying it to raw patches of skin or using it on infants suffering from neurodermatitis, as the antiseptic effect will most probably cause the skin to "burn". Q: Occasionally people are apprehensive regarding the use of DOLERMA® because - unlike PRIMALAN® - it contains camphor. What can you tell me about that?
A: As far as this ingredient is concerned, there is no need to worry. DOLERMA® contains only about 0,4 - 0,5 per cent camphor - a dose which is far below the amount of active substances normally contained in medication (5 per cent). In high concentrations (i.e. far beyond the dose limit for medical active agents), camphor can irritate the skin or mucous membranes. However, this is not at all true for DOLERMA®, which contains camphor and menthol only for a slightly improved blood circulation. Q: Is it true that the use of products containing camphor (such as DOLERMA®) for children and babies is often regarded with apprehension?
A: Yes, and rightly so, as high concentrations of camphor can irritate the skin or mucous membranes. However, DOLERMA® contains a mere 0,5 per cent camphor - an amount which is far below the dose limit for medical active agents (which is normally 5 per cent). The use of DOLERMA® can therefore be considered safe for children and infants. Q: How many times per day do you recommend to use DOLERMA® and / or PRIMALAN®?
A: Depending on the skin disorder and on the individual needs, everyone has to find his or her "personal skin care rhythm". In case of lesions and acne we recommend to apply the preparations twice a day (twice every 24 hours).

A: Yes, it can make sense to use both preparations at the same time, for example after sunbathing or in case of sunburns, and in particular if you are suffering from "dry, chapped and itching" skin. In these cases we recommend to proceed as follows: First apply and rub in DOLERMA® , then apply and rub in a few drops of PRIMALAN®. Q: Can DOLERMA® and /or PRIMALAN® lose their effectiveness if stored beyond 25°C (75°F), e.g. in the summertime at the beach?
A: No. Both preparations will keep their effectiveness. However, to maintain their consistency, our products should be stored at temperatures below 25°C (75°F). Otherwise, both preparations may turn thinner and separate into different layers of oil and water, which by no means implies loss of quality. In that case keep the preparation refrigerated for 24 hours. Afterwards, shake to achieve the usual consistency. Q: Can DOLERMA® and PRIMALAN® be used in combination with other skin care products?
A: Yes. Incompatibility with other skin care products is so far unheard of. Q: Can DOLERMA® and PRIMALAN® leave stains on clothes or underwear?
A: Yes, but normally this is only the case if too much of the preparation has been applied. Stained clothes - in particular underwear - can easily be cleaned with ox-gall-soap. Q: Can I get free DOLERMA® and PRIMALAN® product samples?
